"It’s an exciting opportunity for us to play France – the Olympic host and a strong soccer nation,” said Men’s Olympic Team head coach Marko Mitrovic. “France is consistently one of the world’s top teams at every age group. This match provides a great chance for us to face another challenging opponent as we continue preparations for the Olympic Games.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Since coming together this past October as a team, the U-23 squad is 2-1-1 in all competitions under Mitrovic, with wins over Japan and Mexico, a draw vs Iraq and a narrow 1-0 loss to Morocco. The USMNT qualified for the first time in 16 years for the 2024 Olympic Games, and now, they have their biggest test yet ahead of this summer's competition.
The French are led by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who was appointed last August. The match will take place in Montbeliard, France at the Stade Bonal on March 25.
