Alli played a key role in his side’s third goal, sending a brilliant pass into the path of the South Korea international, who was then fouled by goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

And supporters lauded the performance of the England international.

Spurs have been operating without a central striker because of the injury sustained by Harry Kane.

And a number of supporters believe that Alli, who earns £100k-per-week according to Spotrac, has the required attributes to play in the role.

Indeed, he has scored eight goals in all competitions this season, while providing a total of four assists.

He has yet to play as a central striker, however, primarily operating as an attacking midfielder.
